In New Testament times, the churches were lead by men who met the criteria set forth in Titus 1 and 1 Peter 5. Six terms were used in scripture to describe this single position:
- Elder,
- bishop,
- shepherd,
- pastor,
- presbyter, and
- overseer.
We normally use the term "elder" to refer to these leaders. At Highlands, we have five men who serve in this capacity: Merle Farris, Henry Kirkland, Bob Walmsley, Gibson Steed and Marc Presnell.
Numerous other men serve as Deacons or Ministry Leaders who keep the various functions of the church operating.
